George Wilson, Mike Walker and myself have met two times to discuss plans going forward. We agreed we want to reach out to the user group members for input on two items: location and meeting topics. We are tentatively targeting January 2015 for our next meeting. Will keep you posted.
We met on Sept 24, and chose the next meeting date of January 15, 2014. Of course, we wanted to avoid December vacations/holidays so the first of next year made sense. We are still working out the details with respect to topics, speakers, etc.
The Sept 4th meeting was a great success! The attendance counted 20, which we felt was very good. The topic of the day was the "Informix Warehouse Accelerator", with 2 presentations from Mike Walker of Advanced Data Tools and Fred Ho from IBM. Topic suggestions for subsequent meetings were gathered, and everyone seemed to enjoy the lunch provided. IWA is an incredible offering from the Informix team that has been available for about 2 1/2 years. It is great for hybrid environments as well as warehouses.
The first meeting in about 8 years is on the calendar scheduled for Sept 4, 2013. Focusing on the "Informix Warehouse Accelerator." This is the latest "new product" released by the Informix team, and it's potential is incredible. Offering "in-memory queries" amongst other leading edge features, it should play very well in all IDS environments - DW, OLTP, or mixed environments. The formal announcement is below:
Please join local Informix users at the next Colorado Informix Users Group meeting Wednesday, September 4, 2013, where the focus will be on the latest groundbreaking product from the Informix team - the "Informix Warehouse Accelerator (IWA)."
